Jason and Tin's Wedding

It was December,last month, when Rico told me that he had two bookings lined up at the start of the year 2009. The dates are January 03 and 04. Two consecutive days, gosh, I need energy drinks!

Well, I said yes to Rico. I’ll be his back-up photographer on those dates. It's nice to start the year with photography works. Photography has always been a passion for me. I never get tired of taking pictures of the lovely brides. It’s wonderful to see the glow on the face of the bride especially when she walks on the aisle. It seems like there’s a beam of light focusing on her face. It must be the excitement, the warmth and the purity that makes the bride stunning.

I was excited to know that the wedding was in Calaruega. This venue is very popular for couples getting married. The church is located in Brgy. Kaylaway, Batulao, Nasugbu, Batangas, outskirt of Tagayatay City. The place is very solemn and quiet. It has a picturesque view, perfect for wedding pictures. In fact the church has already filled bookings in 2010.

I remembered the prenuptial shoot last Jan.05,2008 with Milton and Gina. We sneak out photo shots at the church. It’s not actually permissible to take prenuptial photo if the couples do not have reservation in Calaruega church. The view at the picnic area is more scenic, it’s green and trees abound and it’s surrounded by mountain.

The team meet up 3:00am at Rico's place in Katipunan. The team were composed of Rico,myself,Mang Boy,Mario. We drove south for Tagaytay and arrived in Taal Vista at 5am. It rained slightly when we got there. It's cold and gusty caused by fogs that settled in the area. We waited inside the car took a nap for almost an hour as it was still early to go up to the bride's room.

It was 6:00am when we went to Tin's room. Her make up was already half done when got in the room. Had we gone up early, I could have taken more pictures of the bride's preparation. 7:00am the team split up. Rico and Mario were left with Tin. Mang Boy and I went to the groom, Jason who checked in at Days Hotel, about 10KM drive from Taal Vista. I took the photo shoot of the Jason's preparation and other details on the stuffs that he will wear.

The church ceremony started at 8:30am. Just few minutes late as the entourage awaited for the parents of Jason. =) Three priests officiated the mass. The priests were former classmates of Jason in the seminary. The reception followed at Josephine's restaurant in Tagaytay.

It was a nice wedding. Jason and Tin are lovely couple. Goodluck and best wishes!

Bea's Debut

This photo was taken at the 18th birthday of Bea in Villa Romar, Marikina City. Rosahlee and I took the photo coverage. This was actually my second time to cover a debut. It's quite similar to taking wedding photos. Stuffs like the gown,shoes,etc. need to be included in the photo shoot. The time spent is almost the same. The program started at 7pm but we were at the venue earlier to take photos of the preparation of the celebrant.

I never had a hard time taking photos of Bea. She's very cooperative. She just follow whatever stuffs we told her to do, no complaining. Her family,relatives and friends were also very supportive.

Totep and Daisy will get marry on the 6th of December this year. The wedding will be held at the Archbishop's Palace in Mandaluyong City. Their reception is at the pool area of the Renaissance Tower in Pasig City.

MCC Sportsfest 2008

Our company had a one-day tournament/sportsfest at Paeng Libis . The games include dart, billiard and bowling. Our unit should have been included in the Finance group (defending champion) but the team members were already complete. So our unit joined forces with other unit, Collection Dept, to fill in and complete the 10-member- team.

The game started at 10am. It was a fun-filled day to mingle, extend hi’s and hello’s, throw encouragement through high five and laugh out loud at one self as the ball passed through the gutter. As everyone tried hard to bowl the more serious games were at the billiard table and dart.

The Finance team emerged as winner in bowling, they have the most number of pin falls overall. Although our team didn’t win but the Single highest score female and single high average female belong to our team! Yes, panalo pa rin,yahoo!!!

Masskara Festival 2008

Bacolod City is the capital of Negros Occidental, popularly known as the “City of Smiles”. It is the proud home to the world-renowned MassKara Festival.

My friend Rosahleehas been witnessing the festival for four years now. It’s because her advertising work required her to be there together with the client. She’s been telling me to go there and witness the festival. I thought of joining her last year but unfortunately it didn’t happen. Since Rosahlee will be there for work, “dyahe naman” if I join her together with the client. Hehehe!

Good thing Mellany a.k.a Chingpay/Wangbu), my friend, ka-orgmate sa mountaineering OCMI, former officemate and travel buddy as well, called me up and asked me if I want to go to Bacolod for the Masskara festival. “Yes, join ako dyan!” For photo enthusiast like us, a colourful event like this is one photo opportunity that’s hard to pass up. I'm excited for this is my first time to take photos of the Maskarra Festival!

Oct17, Mellany and I flew to Bacolod via PAL. Mellany recently bought a Nikon D60, well actually it was a gift from her bf, “wow galante”, i guessed we have somehow influenced her to get one. Few other members of OCMI have also been bitten by the shutterbug, so baka maging camera club na rin kami. heheh. Naku baka magalit ang founding members, yari!

While we were waiting for our flight , I promised Mel I will give her pointers (feeling pro ako!) Since I’m a Canon user, I don’t know much about the functionalities of Nikon camera, kaya hayun pareho kami ni Mel nag-aaral ng manual ng Nikon. Hahahah, pareho naming hindi alam mag-erase ng picture sa memory card! Walastik! Wangbu talaga si Mel, sabi ko na aralin ang manual eh! Ngek!

After a few minutes, we deciphered how to erase the image in her Nikon camera. I gave her a crash course, basic and advance photography combined. Dapat yata singilin ko si Mel ng PF ha@! Since she’s my friend at sya ang nag-ayos ng lahat papunta naming Bacolod, sige quits na (pero sobrang salamat Mel sa pag-booked sa flight at hotel,mwah!). Matalinong bata si Mel, naintindihan nya ang mga technical aspects , elements and compositon ha, hmm in fairness, galing ni Chingpay!!! =)

We landed safely at Bacolod Int’l airport 10:26am, 20mins ahead of schedule. We didn’t have planned IT but Mel had a copy of iternerary posted by RACE so we thought that we’ll just follow their IT (thanks RACE!). Our first stop was Balay Negrense,Silay Heritage, one of the old houses that can be found in Silay, northeast of Bacolod. Afterwards, we headed to our hotel, Bacolod Executive Hotel now known as O Hotel www.http://ohotel.com.ph, located, San Sebastian street.

We roamed the city and had lunch at Mang Inasal. Bacolod is actually known for Inasal or grilled chix , gutom na kami, hindi namin mahanap ang Bacolod Inasal! Kaya basta may Inasal resto go na! Bacolenos love to eat on bare hands. Kasi nga naman yung chix, kelangan kutkutin, yun bang buto lang ang ititira. We shared seats with two young lads, they eat with their bare hands. Rapsa! The resto served unlimited rice.

Our hotel was near main streen Lacson , where happenings at night were alive. There were street dancing at night, concerts and beauty pageant. Lacson street is where you can find the nicest restaurants in town. We’ve tried Pendi,Calea, Cafe Bob’s , Trattoria Uma, and Enting’s. Pala-pala, is also in the area. I’m sure there are lots of good restaurants in Bacolod that we’ll definitely visit next time.

Lester and Grace's Nuptial

Yesterday was Lester Matias and Grace Duron’s wedding. I was a back-up photographer to Rico at this wedding which was held at St. Pancratius Chapel in Paco Park, Manila. The team met 9:00am at Rico’s studio, Memory Lane in Katipunan. Rico discussed few notes on positioning of light and focal point of each one inside the church. The team was composed of Rico, the main photographer, myself as back-up photograpger, Mang Boy,the videographer, Wilsuan, the lightman and one utility/service guy. Wilsuan occasionally does backup photography to Rico.

After a few minutes, we proceeded to Diamond Hotel, where the couple checked in. We arrived there at 10:30am where we took pictures of preparation of the bride and groom and some other details. The bride’s room was quite full. The parents, some relatives, maid-of-honor, bride’s maids and flower girls were all there. The make-up artist, Archie (fondly called as Mama Archie) whom I met during the couples’ prenuptial shoot in Tagaytay, and his crew were also there busy putting make-ups on the entourage. We first took pictures of the bride’s preparation, the details and stuffs used during the marriage vows, bride’s gown and the bride’s maids. The groom and his entourage were on separate room. Rico took care of taking picture of the groom’s preparation.

It was 4pm when the rain started to pour. Grace was flustered earlier that her event coordinator hasn’t shown up yet. It was raining hard. The reception venue was a garden set-up. Grace managed to take her cool when she got a call from the coordinator who's according to her was already in the hotel's vicinity. At least there’s someone who will take care of the worrying for her. She’s almost done with her make-up. When she donned her wedding gown, there’s that beam in her face. I guess all brides wear that different glow, such an elegant aura.

The wedding was actually at 6pm and the reception was on the same place at Paco Park garden. It was a good thing that the rain stopped before we left the hotel. All went well that night.

Manny and Jheng Prenup pictorial

Manny Anore, our friend and orgmate in OCMI and former officemate, will soon tie a knot to a lovely lady. Her name is Jennifer Midel or “Jheng” for short. Both were actually my officemates in Bankard. The big day is on December 20, 2008. Manny and Jheng entrusted me and Rosahlee (a.k.a Dad) to cover the event.

We’ve met with them a month ago and planned for the date and venue of the prenuptial shoot. The chosen locations were Parks and Wildlife and La Mesa Eco Park situated in Quezon City.

I woke up at 5:00am and looked outside to check of any sign of bad weather. It’s been raining for the past days now and if weather will not cooperate with us we will have to call it off for next week.

Rosahlee and I were already in our meeting place, McDonald’s Edsa, Quezon Ave near the MRT station at 6:30am. We’ve informed Manny that we’re already in McDonald’s waiting for them. It was raining in their area and thought that we will have to cancel the pictorial. There’s no sign of rain from where we’re staying although we barely see the sun coming out. So, we told Manny to come over and go on as planned. When they arrived at McDonald’s the rain started to drizzle. They brought with them Dwight and Hannah, their cute dogs.

We were lucky that it didn’t rain the whole day. We managed to have the pictorial as planned. It was enjoyable as the couple was cooperative as well as the dogs. 

Jasmine's 1st Birthday

Baby Jasmine is the daughter of my friend and high school classmate, Rhorie and Will. Their whole family are here for vacation. My friend Rhorie requested me to take photos of their daughter's first birthday celebration at Jollibee.

They will be leaving for New York tomorrow. My friend Rhorie is a RN but actually a doctor before migrating to New York. It's been years, more than a decade actually, since we last saw each other. I'm so glad to see Rhorie and family and their growing kids. =)
