Mazato and Len Prenup Photo Shoot

Rico requested me to handle the prenuptial photo shoot of Mazato and Len two weeks ago. I've handled prenup shoots before but this was the first time that I'll be doing it for Rico. Because of earlier commitment he had to assign this shoot to me.

I've asked my friend,John(a.k.a One),who's also a photographer(I met him at Kelby's photowalk) to join and assist me in this shoot.

The couple had arrived in our meeting place,La Mesa Eco Park, earlier than the set time which was 2pm. Mazato and Len were already married in Japan and they would want to have a ceremony also here in Manila. Len,the bride, was a bit displeased because the place was crowded (it was Rizal's day,non-working holiday). She's also complaining of mosquito bites. Mazato, the groom, was sweating all over but never complains and looks so calm. I emphatized with them, Japan has winter and here we have the opposite plus humid. Well, the place definitely had something to offer, we just need to be patient.

Len and Mazato were accompanied by Kathy, Len's sister, and their driver. Archie (fondly called asMama Archie),make-up artist was also there. I would say Mama Archie did a good job in making Len more beautiful. The make-up looks natural on Len's face.

Len suggested to have the photoshoot in another location, Tagaytay. Since it was already past 2pm, it wouldn't be advisable to move to another location because we're not sure of the traffic situation in South. It would already be late if we'll reach Tagaytay. So I explained to Len of the pros and cons of moving to another location. Plus we don't have vehicle service to transfer to another location. I was grateful that Len and Mazato agreed to stay and have the photo shoot at the La Mesa Ecopark.

It was quite a challenge because the place was teeming with patrons and guests. Finding the right spots to shoot was equally a challenge. Mazato is a Japanese and Len speaks well of their dialect so communication wasn't much of a challenge. Mazato speaks English but Len still need to translate in Japanese language.

It was fun doing the photo shoot with this couple. Building rapport is a must. Quick thinking, creativity and most of all a lot of patience are needed when you have limited time. Hope you like the photos.

See you both on your wedding day, January 8, 2010.

Symphony of Lights

I was able to catch the last night's free show of Symphony of Lights at the Ayala Triangle Gardens in Makati City. It's just walking distance from our office.

The show started last Nov20 and ended last night. It's a light and sound show of two talented artists, Voltaire de Jesus, renowned theater lighting director and multi-awarded sound designer Jethro Joaquin.

It was quite a challenge to take photos of the dancing lights. I brought a tripod with me which is a big help. I had also taken long exposure shots of buildings around the area. You don't always get to do this in Ayala as it's prohibited to just take photos unless you have permit.

Portraiture, Lighting and Post Processing Technique Workshop by PARC CRUZ

I had the opportunity to attend yesterday’s workshop by Parc Cruz. This guy is brilliant. He is very creative and generous in sharing his knowledge. No wonder this guy is blessed with such talent. He uses natural, available or ambient light in most of his photographs.

I would rate myself a neophyte when it comes to post processing photos. I’m glad that I didn’t put off joining the workshop. A one-day workshop may not be enough but I learned a lot. One can learn all the techniques but without “concept” the picture will look like a snapshot.

Speacial thanks also to Mike Sabarre for his input and of course to our lovely model, Roseeh Cuntapay, thanks for posing.

And oh, the food “kare-kare”, pasta and grilled chicken, etc. panalo ang sarap! I gained extra pounds. Hehehe! =)

I’ll definitely recommend this workshop to my friends. I hope i can join again in their other workshops.

Again, thanks to both of you for patiently and generously imparting your knowledge. More power! Mabuhay kayo!

PS.
I’m trying hard to put what i’ve learned into practice. =) Here is my share. Please click on this link: ROSE

Animé Overload Festival

I sent text message to my friend Mel two days ago. I asked her to see the Animé Overload Festival at the SM Convetion Center at Mall of Asia. I'm not really a fan of animé or cosplay and I guess neither Mel too. The first cosplay that I attended last September was in SM Megatrade Hall. A friend invited me to take photos. I kinda like it because of the colorful outfits that really look nice in the photos. So this time I tagged along Mel to experience the same. This is Mel's first time to see cosplay.

The girl in the picture is Lain. I met her in Cosplay Mania a couple of months ago at SM Megatrade Hall. She cosplayed Baiken of Guilty Gear. This time she's portraying Nyuu/Lucy from Elfen Lied. To see more of Lain as Nyu please click this link : Nyuu.

I've also posted other cosplayer pictures. Please follow this link: Animé Overload

Angela

My friend, Mes, invited me at their house in Paranaque to do practice photo shoot. Early this morning I dropped by at the Meralco gym then later I went to Hidalgo and bought umbrellas for my strobes. It was already past 4pm when I arrived at Mes' house.

After a few chat, Mes called her niece and introduced to me. Her niece's name is Angela. Mes hurriedly requested Angela to take a bath and get ready for a photo shoot. =)

Later that night, Mes' friends Cali joined us. One (aka John was able to join the photoshoot although he was already tipsy as he had drinking spree earlier that day with his friends. It was a good thing that One had decided to meet us at Mes' house, I had company on my way home. And Thots too was there, but One and I had already left when he got at Mes' house.

Mes' idea of the photo shoot was all about angel, very fitting for Angela. =)

MCC sportsfest

I dropped by today past 11am at Meralco gym in Ortigas. It's MCC sportsfest. The main game was basketball. There were other games like sack race and touch ball but I wasn't able to catch it that morning as I left the house a bit late. I had to fix my camera and light stands which I brought with me. My friend, Mes, invited me at their house in Paranaque for a practice photo shoot.

My collegues have joined the basketball team for fun, they're not really players =). I salute you guys for the guts and for the team spirit!

I actually have no plan of watching the whole game. My plan was to leave at 1pm but I was requested to take photos of the ceremonial toss to signal the start of the game. So, i gave in to the request and stayed past 2pm.

Here are few pictures that i took during the day.

Nothing Compares to You

Prince first wrote the song after the death of his father. When his father passed they were on bad terms. Sinead O'Connor remade the song in the 90's after her mother passed. In some article it said that she wrote this song after her son's death.

Sinéad Marie Bernadette O'Connor (pronounced "Shih - Nay")(born 8 December 1966) is an Irish singer-songwriter. Sinead sings with such passion and emotion.

Lyrics:

It's been seven hours and fifteen days
Since you took your love away
I go out every night and sleep all day
Since you took your love away
Since you been gone I can do whatever I want
I can see whomever I choose
I can eat my dinner in a fancy restaurant
But nothing
I said nothing can take away these blues
`Cause nothing compares
Nothing compares to you

It's been so lonely without you here
Like a bird without a song
Nothing can stop these lonely tears from falling
Tell me baby where did I go wrong
I could put my arms around every boy I see
But they'd only remind me of you
I went to the doctor n'guess what he told me
Guess what he told me
He said girl u better try to have fun
No matter what you'll do
But he's a fool
`Cause nothing compares
Nothing compares to you

all the flowers that you planted, mama
In the back yard
All died when you went away
I know that living with you baby was sometimes hard
But I'm willing to give it another try
Nothing compares
Nothing compares to you (3x)

Angel
by Sarah McLachlan

Lyrics:

Spend all your time waiting
For that second chance
For a break that would make it okay
Theres always one reason
To feel not good enough
And its hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction
Oh beautiful release
Memory seeps from my veins
Let me be empty
And weightless and maybe
Ill find some peace tonight

In the arms of an angel
Fly away from here
From this dark cold hotel room
And the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage
Of your silent reverie
Youre in the arms of the angel
May you find some comfort there

So tired of the straight line
And everywhere you turn
Theres vultures and thieves at your back
And the storm keeps on twisting
You keep on building the lie
That you make up for all that you lack
It dont make no difference
Escaping one last time
Its easier to believe in this sweet madness oh
This glorious sadness that brings me to my knees

In the arms of an angel
Fly away from here
From this dark cold hotel room
And the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage
Of your silent reverie
Youre in the arms of the angel
May you find some comfort there
Youre in the arms of the angel
May you find some comfort here

Havoc that Ondoy brought us...

For the latest Philippine news stories and videos, visit GMANews.TV

Everyone’s caught off-guard yesterday as typhoon Ondoy continue to pound Metro Manila including 23 provinces (Aurora, Quirino, Nueva Vizacaya, Nueva Ecija, Pangasinan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Zam bales, Bulacan, Rizal, Quezon, Isabela, Mt. Province, Benguet, Ifugao, La Union, Ilocos Sur, Cavite, Mindoro Oriental, Mindoro Occidental, Batangas, Marinduque, Camarines Norte). These provinces were under state of calamity.

In a matter of 6 hours the whole Metro Manila was inundated. Badly hit were Marikina, Quezon City and Pasig. The water had risen as high as two-storey house. Many families were trapped on the roof seeking for rescue. My brother Buboy and his family live in Pasig. They lived in a two-storey house. My brother had a duty that day and had left the house early in the morning with only rain shower. My sister-in-law , Janelma, had also left the house that morning. She went to Makati Medical Center to fetch her mother and Zaldy, who was confined there two-days ago. Zaldy was discharged in the hospital and they’re all ready to go home. Due to torrential rain, they weren’t able to hail a cab. Taxi drivers just refused every passengers in the streets. My nephew, Christian, my brother’s father-in-law, Tatay, Janilyn and their cousin Mica were left behind the house.

In just a matter of 6 hours, the two-storey house they lived in was already submerged in water. Earlier that day, my brother had called me from his work and informed that flood continue to rise and was already worried about my nephew. Janelma had also called from the hospital and informed that everyone in the house went upstairs as the ground floor was already half-filled with water.

I was at home the whole day yesterday. I even contemplated of going to the office in the morning but due to heavy rain I decided to just stay home. I stay tuned in the television for updates and had written emergency numbers to call for rescue. Janelma had informed me that everyone in their house had transferred to their neighbour’s house which was more elevated than theirs. The water inside their house already reached the flooring of the 2nd floor. Tatay was quick and had made an opening on the wall of their house and they transferred to another house just beside theirs. Their neighbour was kind enough to let them in. The rain continued to pour and had reached their neighbour’s house second flooring. So everyone in that house had abandoned it and transferred to the next house, this time it’s a 4- storey house that everyone was accommodated. They went to the roof in order to transfer to the 3rd house. The 3rd and 4th floors were filled with other families and that were also seeking shelters.

I'm very worried and helpless. The only thing I can do at that moment was to pray. I worried about my nephew Christian whose only 4 years old. He had to go through this situation at an early age. I was thankful though that Tatay was very alert with this kind of situation. Janilyn had kept the communication open using her celphone. She keeps us updated and from time to time if signal permits we call her on the celphone.

As the night falls, most of the thoroughfares in Metro Manila were impassable. It was a good thing that LRT/MRT administrations continued their operation but commuters are still stranded. Buboy was able to ride the LRT from Pedro Gil station and stayed at our house. Vilma and Cel are my cousins living with me. They both work at Trinoma. They had to walk past Munoz, where water was until chest-high.

Buboy was able to talk to Christian. He told his kid to stay put and be brave. There was light moment when my brother was talking to his son. Christian told Buboy not to go to the house, “daan ka na lang sa bubong kasi baha”.

As of this writing, Christian, Tatay, Janilyn, Mica and together with the families are still stuck inside the 4-storey house. They had eaten their meals though.

This morning rescue teams are now in Pasig area. The rain already stopped and the sun has shown its light. The water though has not yet subsided in Pasig as compared to Marikina. It was devastating to see the wrath brought by Ondoy.

At this very moment, we can only pray that the waters will already ebb so the rescue will continue.

God help us all.

Model shoot, Sunken Garden

Link to see more of the photos: Model photoshoot

(group photo courtesy of ONE)

Ang hirap kumuha ng location shoot! It seems that photographers nowadays have to be always ready of the permits!

Last week's schedule was bumped off due to continous rain. Early today was a perfect day to shoot. We have the models as well as the photographers and the weather cooperated with us. But wait, we didn't have permit!!! What the....@!?#/*&

This was the dilemma this morning. ONE had earlier informed the participants of the scheduled photoshoot at the Manila North Cemetery (MNC). His grandmother's tomb (may she rest in peace) rest inside the MNC. He was confident that the security personnel will not dare to ask the purpose of our visit (i.e., to have our photoshoot inside the cemetery, gothic theme) Unfortunately, the security didn't let us in as he had been informed of our purpose. ONE had taken efforts to call his relatives and even talked to the security head but they didn't give in to the plea. We were told that we need to secure permit in the City Hall before we can have our photoshoot inside the cemetery. Sigh!

The reason why we weren't permitted was because of the incident that happened with the tv news crew. Apparently, his stuffs were stolen on location while covering news. According to the security personnel, there were also instances of mob and hold-ups where the culprit were 'outsiders' and even use van to perform illegal acts.

Enough with the frustration. Well, almost. The question was, where are we goiing to hold the photoshoot?! There were suggestions to rent a studio somewhere near the area, or go to ONE's house and do the shoot there. I offered my portable light set-up in case everyone decided to do the shoot at ONE's abode. Another suggestion was to hold the photoshoot at UST Chapel.

The group finally decided to hold the photoshoot at Sunken Garden, UP Diliman Quezon City. UP actually requires permit for photoshoot especially if there are models, but we took our chance.

The particapants were composed of 5 models: (KRIZEL, JHANE, YANYAN, VANESSA, BERN), 11 photographers: yours truly,JUVY, WENDELL, ANTHONY, GARY, ONE, DENNIS, DOODZ, RON, MARK, JUN, RICK (whew!) and 2 make-up artist(MUA): JEN and MES and KRIZEL's Mom (Krizzel and her Mom came all the way from Rizal!; and it was Krizzel's first model photoshoot)

It's always a challenge for me to pose the models. The models were actually just starting up their path to modelling so expectedly they will need some directions. They were all easy to work with, so the posing came out naturally. Really no qualms.

One thing I learned from the activity is that, I think that it's way better if wee added a story line or concept of what the whole photoshoot is all about. For me, it's like watching a movie that in the end, it leaves you with something to think about. Just a piece of thought. =)

I'm truly grateful to all the participants. It was a fun-filled afternoon of sharing passion for photography. I'm looking forward to do another photoshoot with you guys...

A day of cosplay

This is a fun day of cosplay. Originally,my schedule today is a fashion shoot/goth shoot with friends whom I met at the Photowalk. John (a.k.a ONE) organized the said activity. Since it's been raining for a week now, the schedule was moved to a later date. If the weather permits, hopefully the scehdule pushes through next week.

ONE invited me yesterday to come and take photos of the Cosplay at the SM Megatrade Hall. I said yes since i haven't got other things in my schedule. I really have no idea what Cosplay was. I didn't care to research or even ask what Cosplay is! Usually, I do search the net for information regarding the subject that I'm gonna take photo. I thought it was a concert. Silly me! LOL! I should have asked my brother, he knows this well!

It's fascinating to see participants don costumes of their favorite character. They do exert efforts to emulate the look and portray the characters.

As of this writing, here's what I learned from Wikipedia - CAMEKO, short for "Camera Kozo" or "Camera Boy". It's a japanese term for those who photograph player. Originally the cameko give prints of their photos to players as gifts. =)

Farewell, Beloved President Corazon 'Cory' Aquino

I was 10 years old when Senator Benigno Aquino Jr. was assassinated. At an early age I wasn't aware of the social issues that brought the death of this man. But one thing for sure I knew that it made a great impact in our history. I remembered witnessing the crowds lining at EDSA following a flatbed truck carrying the remains of Sen Benigno Aquino Jr. And the rest was history.

Now, I witnessed how this nation grieved once more for the lost of the beloved president, Corazon 'Cory' Aquino. As I'm more aware now as I was 26 years ago, it feels good to be part of that history and being a Filipino. Hindi rin naman nasayang ang mga pinaglaban ni 'Cory' para sa mapayapang Kalayaan.

To me, the death of Pres. 'Cory' was an awakening to all Filipinos to do good and not to think of themselves but the welfare of others as well. I just hope that the death of the beloved Cory will not just be a reminder for us. Every Filipinos should act together and move this country where it should be.

To our beloved President, Corazon 'Cory' Aquino, Maraming Salamat! You made us all proud being a Filipino.

An Attempt to Nude Photography

Warning: This post is about Nude Photograpraphy. If you think you'll be offended by this post please skip it.

Nude photography, as defined in Wikipedia, is a style of art photography which depicts the nude human body as a study. Nude photography should be distinguished from erotic photography, which has a sexually suggestive component. Nude photography should also be distinguished from glamour photography, which places more emphasis on the model and her/his sexuality, and treats the model as the primary subject.

Many photographers consider an art nude photograph to be a one that studies the human body, rather than the person. A photograph of a person that is meant to be recognized is called a portrait, and nude photographs often do not show a face at all. Nude photography is generally not a snapshot, but a composed image of a person in a still position. As an art form, nude photography a stylized depiction of the nude body with the line and form of the human figure as the primary objective. Photographers sometimes use extremes of light and shadow, oiled skin, and shadows falling across the body to show texture and structure of the body.

Few days before the shoot, I search through the net for some tips from the type of lense to use in nude photography, creating story lines, lighting the figures to posing the model. I may say the latter was truly a challenge. The tips really come in handy.

This is my attempt to capture a woman's body through photography and I do hope i made justice to it. This was made possible by ARTMOVEMENT.

It was a great learning experience. =)

Prayer for A Happy Death

Cory Aquino has been diagnosed with colon cancer early in 2008. She wrote a prayer which came out at about the time she entered the hospital. A beatiful prayer, so humble and so loving indeed...

Prayer for A Happy Death
by Corazon C. Aquino

Almighty God, most merciful Father
You alone know the time
You alone know the hour
You alone know the moment
When I shall breathe my last.

So, remind me each day,
most loving Father
To be the best that I can be.
To be humble, to be kind,
To be patient, to be true.
To embrace what is good,
To reject what is evil,
To adore only You.

When the final moment does come
Let not my loved ones grieve for long.
Let them comfort each other
And let them know
how much happiness
They brought into my life.
Let them pray for me,
As I will continue to pray for them,
Hoping that they will always pray
for each other.

Let them know that they made possible
Whatever good I offered to our world.
And let them realize that our separation
Is just for a short while
As we prepare for our reunion in eternity.

Our Father in heaven,
You alone are my hope.
You alone are my salvation.
Thank you for your unconditional love, Amen.

Scott Kelby’s 2nd Annual Worldwide Photo walk - Tondo, Manila Leg

Scott Kelby’s 2nd Annual Worldwide Photo walk" July 18, 2009

Meeting Place: In front of Tondo Church, Manila
Meeting Time: 9:00 to 10:00 am

Photo Walk Route: Tondo Church to Moriones Street going to PNR / Tutuban Center Mall.

The weather the past few days was gloomy. It keeps on raining. Good thing, we were blessed with nice weather during Photowalk.

Participants meet up at Chowking restaurant near Sto. Nino church in Tondo, Manila. Photowalk leaders Tristan and RJ 'One' were on the registration attending to the participants queries. In a few minutes the group were instructed to form a small group of five-member. Mellany and I joined with Nette,Joan and Albert. Nette and Albert were familiar in the place so we just follow them wherever they go.

We roamed around Tondo church and the streets of Moriones. When you're in Tondo or any part of Manila, it seems like the people never sleep. Lahat nagmamadali! Survival of the fittest ang labanan! Pity because the progress were not apparent. You'll see homeless families in the vicinity of the church. Their kids wander and constantly ask for money. I just can't aim my camera at them and force to take picture. Quite depressing but it's the reality. You'll be surprised though because they will flash a smile at you specially the kids.

Here's my share on the photowalk experience. Please click on the link to see my other two photos: Tondo

DPP's 3rd Year Anniversary

Today is DPP's 3rd year anniversary. I just learned about it when I bought the Digital Photographer Philippines (DPP) magazine issue 26. There's an enclosed participant pass and so I grabbed that opportunity and attended their event held at the Fully Booked High Street.

The event started at 10am but I was able to go there past 12noon. Eri, my officemate also attended the event. I also met Nico,a freelance graphic artist/phorographer.

The activities during the day include free seminars conducted by well-known photographers in the industry like Jo Avila, Ben Chan, Ferdinand Decena,Nick Tuason, Pilar Tuason, Jay Tablante, Jay Jallorina, Bernie Ledesma, Raymund Isaac, Wesley Villarica, Harvey Chua and Nino Carandang.

From my estimate, the particants range between 600 to 800. The seminars were conducted in three(3) different locations inside Fully Booked, U-View(basement), Forum(4th floor) and Top Shelf (5th floor). Freebies were handed during registration. I got Nivea goodies while others, early registrants, were given Canon pack, not sure what's inside the pack.

I was able to attend two seminars, "Elegant Lighting for Fashion Photography" conducted by Jay Tablante,as shown in the photo below. The other seminar was, The Art of Landscape Photography" was with Jay Jallorina. Those photographers are still young and equally great. Their works and images show their expertise in their chosen style of photography. I wanted to attend the seminar conducted by Ms. Pilar Tuason, "A Guide to Child and Bridal Portraiture" unfortunately, there were limited seats. Incidentally, she was the featured photographer in this month's issue of DPP magazine. I love her bridal shots.

I didn't stay long. After the talk of Jay Jallorina I left already. The seminar was very inspiring and the speakers/photographers were all generous in sharing their thoughts and experiences.

Happy 3rd anniversary DPP!

Flu shot

I had a flu shot last week at our office. It was actually offered to the employees including their beneficiaries at a discounted rate. Just taking precaution to combat the widespread A(H1N1)virus.

Philippines has more than 40 reported individual affected by the A(H1N1) virus. The count was very low compare to other countries where there were also reported fatalities.

Some universities in the metro were forced to extend opening of classes due to reported students that got affected by the flu virus. The Department of Health's (DOH) information drive somehow helped the public become aware and how to prevent from contracting disease.

The flu virus has become a pandemic according to World Health Organization. So please take heed and do necessary precautions.

Why - Annie Lennox

Annie Lennox is a very talented artist. This is my fave song.

WHY lyrics

How many times do I have to try to tell you
That I'm sorry for the things I've done
But when I start to try to tell you
That's when you have to tell me
Hey...this kind of trouble's only just begun
I tell myself too many times
Why don't you ever learn to keep your big mouth shut
That's why it hurts so bad to hear the words
That keep on falling from your mouth
Falling from your mouth
Falling from your mouth
Tell me
Why
Why
I may be mad
I may be blind
I may be viciously unkind
But I can still read what you're thinking
And I've heard is said too many times
That you're better off
Besides...
Why can't you see this boat is sinking
(This boat is sinking this boat is sinking)
Let's go down to the water's edge
And we can cast away those doubts
Some things are better left unsaid
But they still turn me inside out
Turning inside out turning inside out Tell me...
Why
Tell me...
Why
This is the book I never read
These are the words I never said
This is the path I'll never tread
These are the dreams I'll dream instead
This is the joy that's seldom spread
These are the tears...
The tears we shed
This is the fear
This is the dread
These are the contents of my head
And these are the years that we have spent
And this is what they represent
And this is how I feel
Do you know how I feel?
'Cause I don't think you know how I feel
I don't think you know how I feel
I don't think you know how I feel
You don't know what I feel

There Must Be an Angel lyrics

No-one on earth could feel like this.
I'm thrown and overblown with bliss.
There must be an angel
Playing with my heart.
I walk into an empty room
And suddenly my heart goes boom!
It's an orchestra of angels
And they're playing with my heart.

(must be talking to an angel)

No-one on earth could feel like this.
I'm thrown and overblown with bliss.
There must be an angel
Playing with my heart.
And when I think that I'm alone
It seems there's more of us at home.
It's a multitude of angels
And they're playing with my heart.

Chorus repeats.

I must be hallucinating
Watching angels celebrating.
Could this be reactivating
All my senses dislocating?
This must be a strange deception
By celestial intervention.
Leavin' me the recollection
Of your heavenly connection.

I Dreamed a Dream, Susan Boyle

Susan Boyle, the 47 year old Scot lady stunned millions of people around the world. She became instant celebrity after her performance in the TV show "Britain's Got Talents". She sang I dreamed a dream from the Les Miserables. I watched her performance on youtube Susan Boyle - "I Dreamed a Dream" and it just made my day! Amazing voice and stunning performance!

It was so moving. The audience and the judges were cynical at first but when Boyle opened her mouth to sing, the judgmental crowd were surprised.

"I Dreamed a Dream" lyrics

I dreamed a dream in time gone by
When hope was high,
And life worth living
I dreamed that love would never die
I dreamed that God would be forgiving.

Then I was young and unafraid
When dreams were made and used,
And wasted
There was no ransom to be paid
No song unsung,
No wine untasted.

But the tigers come at night
With their voices soft as thunder
As they tear your hopes apart
As they turn your dreams to shame.

And still I dream he'll come to me
And we will live our lives together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And there are storms
We cannot weather...

I had a dream my life would be
So different from this hell I'm living
So different now from what it seems
Now life has killed
The dream I dreamed.

"32 Flavors" - Ani DiFranco

Ani DiFranco (born Angela Maria DiFranco on September 23, 1970) is a Grammy Award-winning singer, guitarist, and songwriter. She is a prolific artist, having released over twenty albums and is widely celebrated as a feminist icon.

32 Flavors (lyrics)
Squint your eyes and look closer
I'm not between you and your ambition
I am a poster girl with no poster
I am thirty-two flavors and then some
and I'm beyond your peripheral vision
so you might want to turn your head
cause someday you're going to get hungry
and eat most of the words you just said

both my parents taught me about good will
and I have done well by their names
just the kindness I've lavished on strangers
is more than I can explain
still there's many who've turned out their porch lights
just so I would think they were not home
and hid in the dark of their windows
til I'd passed and left them alone

and god help you if you are an ugly girl
course too pretty is also your doom
cause everyone harbors a secret hatred
for the prettiest girl in the room
and god help you if you are a pheonix
and you dare to rise up from the ash
a thousand eyes will smolder with jealousy
while you are just flying back

I'm not trying to give my life meaning
by demeaning you
and I would like to state for the record
I did everything that I could do
I'm not saying that I'm a saint
I just don't want to live that way
no, I will never be a saint
but I will always say

squint your eyes and look closer
I'm not between you and your ambition
I am a poster girl with no poster
I am thirty-two flavors and then some
And I'm beyond your peripheral vision
So you might want to turn your head
Cause someday you might find you're starving
and eating all of the words you said

Both Hands - Ani DiFranco

Both Hands (lyrics)
I am walking out in the rain
and I am listening to the low moan of the dial tone again,
and I am getting nowhere with you,
and I can't let it go,
and I can't get through.

And the old woman behind pink curtains
and closed door on the first floor.
She's listening through the airshaft
to see how long our swan song can last.
And both hands,
now use both hands.
Oh no don't close your eyes.
I am writing graffiti on your body.
I am drawing the story of how hard we tried,
how hard we tried.

I am watching your chest rise and fall
like the tides of my life and the rest of it all,
and your bones have been my bedframe,
and your flesh has been my pillow.
I've been waiting for sleep,
to offer up the deep with both hands.
Oh ah, both hands.

But in each other's shadow we grew less and less tall
and eventually our theories couldn't explain it all.
I'm recording our history now on the bedroom wall
and when we leave the landlord will come
and paint over it all.

I'm walking out in the rain
and I am listening to the low moan of the dial tone again,
and I am getting nowhere with you,
and I can't let it go,
and I can't get through.
Both hands, now use both hands.
Ooh, close your eyes.
I am writing graffiti on your body.
I am drawing the story of how hard we tried,
how hard we tried, how hard we tried.

14th Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2009

This is my 2nd time to see the hot air balloon or HAB at Clark . The invitation came from Mel and Surath, whom I met during the Cebu trip with Mel and her officemates. Rosahlee also joined this trip.

The group met at EDSA Shell near McKinley Road . It was a good thing that Mel and Surath had arranged a van going to Subic . It was a Friday so as expected going North wasn’t a breeze. Traffic was dreadful. Our way of forgetting our ennui was to chat and chuck joke on our way to Subic .

Mellany, Rosahlee and I spend the night at Marlim, an old hotel outside the Clark Base. In close proximity, clubs and karaoke bars were lively. Surath however stayed inside the base where US military once used as their barracks.

We got up at 4:30am and headed to Surath’s place. There’s a long queue of vehicles going to the venue of HAB. Every year, locals and tourist alike pour in to see this event.

My first HAB was actually with Rosahlee and her officemates. That time I didn’t get to see the balloons up in the air because of the strong wind. This time around I had the opportunity to see all the colorful and gigantic balloons soar high in the air.

We had lunch at the famous Razon’s. After lunch, we decided to visit Subic , about two hours drive, and checked out the yacth club as well as the go cart area. We didn’t stay that long at the Marina. We went back again at the HAB and stayed until 7pm.

HAB at night was even more alive. The balloons were lined up and were all lit up. I had a hard time taking pictures as spectators were blocking the steel fences but I managed to peek through a small opening of the tent and took some pictures. =)

Now - MYMP

Now is all I know
Now is all I got
And I don't know
If there will be tomorrow for us.

Now is all I care about
Now that you are here
Now that you're the contents of my heart.

Now you're all I know
Now is all I promise
And I don't know
If there will be a future for us.

Now is all I live for
Now that you are near
And it was best that from the start it was clear.

Refrain:
Loving is not owning
We can let it go
We can let it go.

Loving is not owning
You can let me go
You can let me go.

Chorus:
There's a reason
Why we love each other now
And we don't know if this is forever.

There's a reason
Why we are together now
And we don't care if it's not forever now.

Now is all I think about
Now that I am happy
And I'm not sure
If there will be a future for us.

Now is all I offer
It's everything I got
And I still wish
That there will be a tomorrow for us.

(Repeat Refrain)
(Repeat Chorus)
Ad Lib
(Repeat Refrain)
(Repeat Chorus except last word)
(Repeat Chorus)

Coda:
We love each other now...

Jason and Tin's Wedding

It was December, last month, when Rico told me that he had two bookings lined up at the start of the year 2009. The dates are January 03 and 04. Two consecutive days, gosh, I need energy drinks!

Well, I said yes to Rico. I’ll be his back-up photographer on those dates. It's nice to start the year with photography works. Photography has always been a passion for me. I never get tired of taking pictures of the lovely brides. It’s wonderful to see the glow on the face of the bride especially when she walks on the aisle. It seems like there’s a beam of light focusing on her face. It must be the excitement, the warmth and the purity that makes the bride stunning.

I was excited to know that the wedding was in Calaruega. This venue is very popular for couples getting married. The church is located in Brgy. Kaylaway, Batulao, Nasugbu, Batangas, outskirt of Tagayatay City. The place is very solemn and quiet. It has a picturesque view, perfect for wedding pictures. In fact the church has already filled bookings in 2010.

I remembered the prenuptial shoot last Jan.05,2008 with Milton and Gina. We sneak out photo shots at the church. It’s not actually permissible to take prenuptial photo if the couples do not have reservation in Calaruega church. The view at the picnic area is more scenic, it’s green and trees abound and it’s surrounded by mountain.

The team meet up 3:00am at Rico's place in Katipunan. The team were composed of Rico, myself,Mang Boy,Mario. We drove south for Tagaytay and arrived in Taal Vista at 5am. It rained slightly when we got there. It's cold and gusty caused by fogs that settled in the area. We waited inside the car took a nap for almost an hour as it was still early to go up to the bride's room.

It was 6:00am when we went to Tin's room. Her make up was already half done when got in the room. Had we gone up early, I could have taken more pictures of the bride's preparation. 7:00am the team split up. Rico and Mario were left with Tin. Mang Boy and I went to the groom, Jason who checked in at Days Hotel, about 10KM drive from Taal Vista. I took the photo shoot of the Jason's preparation and other details on the stuffs that he will wear.

The church ceremony started at 8:30am. Just few minutes late as the entourage awaited for the parents of Jason. =) Three priests officiated the mass. The priests were former classmates of Jason in the seminary. The reception followed at Josephine's restaurant in Tagaytay.

It was a nice wedding. Jason and Tin are lovely couple. Goodluck and best wishes!
